KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28: The Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al- Awadhi, and the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah officially inaugurated the Kuwait Center for Sleep Medicine, the first of its kind in the country, which was donated by the National Cooperative Projects Committee. Dr. Al-Awadhi explained that the center reflects Kuwait’s vision and the national health strategy for developing the country’s healthcare infrastructure and enhancing the quality of medical services. It stands out by offering the latest medical technologies and bringing together various specialties to treat sleep disorders in both adults and children.

The center not only provides medical care but also focuses on medical education and continuous development. It has a dedicated hall for training and scientific lectures. Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah affirmed that the opening of the center highlights the important role played by the National Cooperative Projects Committee in supporting development projects that benefit the community. She said the committee’s donation to establish the center reflects its commitment to enhancing health and social services, in line with the state’s vision to improve the quality of life. The minister expressed the Ministry of Social Affairs’ pride in contributing to this achievement, which showcases the close cooperation among government agencies in promoting sustainable development.

In this regard, Consultant of Internal Medicine, Chest Diseases, and Sleep Medicine, and Head of the Kuwait Sleep Medicine Center Dr. Iman Al-Anbaei explained that the center offers comprehensive solutions to treat sleep disorders. The center primarily treats conditions such as snoring, sleep apnea, excessive daytime sleepiness, and persistent fatigue. Delaying the diagnosis of these conditions, especially sleep apnea, can lead to serious complications, including heart and arterial diseases, strokes, and impaired vital functions. The center is equipped with seven dedicated rooms for sleep studies, along with advanced devices for conducting home studies. Additionally, the center offers specialized outpatient clinics that include multidisciplinary teams to treat various types of sleep disorders. The center’s team consists of a group of consultant doctors specialized in sleep medicine, neurology, obesity, ear, nose, and throat, dentistry, and mental health.
